Try the ultimate tool to upscale the quality of vintage video to 4K: http://tinyurl.com/AIupscaler The 1910 London to Manchester air race took place between two aviators, each of whom attempted to win a heavier-than-air powered flight challenge between London and Manchester.

While Grahame-White's aeroplane was being repaired in London, Paulhan took off late on 27 April, heading for Lichfield. A few hours later Grahame-White was made aware of Paulhan's departure, and immediately set off in pursuit. The next morning, after an unprecedented night-time take-off, he almost caught up with Paulhan, but his aeroplane was overweight and he was forced to concede defeat. Paulhan reached Manchester early on 28 April, winning the challenge. Both aviators celebrated his victory at a special luncheon held at the Savoy Hotel in London.

The event marked the first long-distance aeroplane race in England, the first take-off of a heavier-than-air machine at night. Paulhan repeated the journey in April 1950, the fortieth anniversary of the original flight, this time as a passenger aboard a British jet fighter.

Time travel back 124 years to experience a typical day in New York city in these AI restored early films made between 1886 and 1904. Colorized and upscaled to 4K 60fps using deep learning AI.

AI breathes new life into New York at the dawn of the 20th century. Early motorized automobiles and electric trams can be seen scooting by horse-drawn carriages, which had been the mode of transport for hundreds of years.
Vintage clothing fashion for women in the 1900s was also on the eve of a revolution. American women are fondly remembered by the term "Gibson Girl" - the vernacular for Edwardian era fashion. In this film women are still seen walking about on the New York streets long trumpet skirts, and feminine shirtwaist blouses, held in shape by corsets. The fashionable hairstyle of the day was the 'pompadour.' which became fashionable again in the 1940s and the 1980s.

Landmarks of New York in 1899 to 1904 include:

The skyscrapers of New York - Hudson River (North River.)
Interior N.Y. subway, 14th St. to 42nd St ( opened in 1904).
Broadway & Union Square, New York.
Lower Broadway.
New York City "ghetto" fish market
New York's Lower East Side.
Panorama of the Flatiron Building.
At the Foot of the Flatiron.
Twenty-third Street, New York City.

The Restoration Process:

To bring old silent 16 fps footage to life, several processes are typically employed:

1. Colorization: Using advanced algorithms and manual techniques, black and white footage is meticulously colorized to recreate the original colors of the scenes. This process involves extensive research to ensure historical accuracy.

2. Upscaling: The footage is upscaled using sophisticated algorithms to increase its resolution while preserving as much detail as possible. This helps enhance the clarity and visual quality of the footage, making it more suitable for modern displays.

3. Interpolation: Interpolation techniques are applied to increase the frame rate of the footage, smoothing out motion and reducing the choppiness inherent in low frame rate silent films. This involves generating additional frames between existing frames to create a smoother, more fluid motion.

4. Adding a New Soundtrack: A new soundtrack is composed or selected to accompany the footage, adding atmosphere and depth to the viewing experience. This may include background music, sound effects, and even dialogue or narration to further immerse viewers in the historical context of the footage.

Overall, these processes combine to breathe new life into old silent footage, allowing audiences to experience the past in a more vivid and engaging manner.

Time travel to the real Babylon Berlin of the roaring 20s. AI colorized 1927 film, restored w/ sound at 4K 60fps. Glamorous 1920s flappers, fashion and Berlin cabaret club dancers.

00:00 1920s Berlin at 8 am. Shop window blinds reveal fashionable mannequins as the metropolis awakens.
00:13 A train pulls into Berlin Friedrichstraße station. We hop on a tram to the city center. We stroll amongst Berliners on the Kurfürstendamm sidewalks.
01:04 At noon we have lunch at the Hotel Excelsior. A brief thunderstorm forces umbrellas open. Fashionable women in furs and cloche hats walk along the Kurfürstendamm. There's a brief glimpse of a 1920's fashion show.
01:49 At dusk, the real Babylon Berlin of the 1920s comes to life. At the El Dorado bar, a group of women and men are already partying.
02:16 Cabaret girls apply their makeup and fix their bobbed hairstyles before a show.
02:26 On with the Gatsby flapper dresses and away to Clärchens Ballroom and dancing the Charleston.

In the 1920s, Berlin was the capital of the Weimar Republic. The city experienced a cultural and artistic boom known as the "Golden Twenties." 1920s fashion was characterized by more streamlined silhouettes in clothing. Berlin's flappers wore skirts with shorter hemlines, bobbed hairstyles and everyone had a more bohemian attitude towards gender expression.
The roaring twenties cabaret scene in Berlin was famous, with venues like the Kit Kat Klub and the Eldorado. Performers such as Marlene Dietrich, Josephine Baker, and Kurt Weill entertained audiences with a mixture of music, comedy, and political satire.
However, the Weimar Republic was plagued by criminality, economic and political instability, and ultimately disappeared under the rise of fascism.

This is an AI restored edit from Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis 1927 by Walter Ruttmann

The acclaimed Babylon Berlin is a fictionalized portrayal of the city during this time, but it captures the energy and atmosphere of the real 1920s Berlin and is a visually stunning tribute to the era. A crime drama set in 1920s Berlin, starring Volker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries. The series takes place during the Weimar Republic and delves into the decadence and corruption of pre-Nazi Germany.

On 10th April 1945, Me 262 pilot Leutnant Walter Hagenah took off with his wingman to intercept an American bomber formation. En route, the two jets were attacked by US fighters, with Hagenah’s wingman being shot down. After avoiding this attack, Hagenah was able to ambush the same P-51’s, reportedly using his R4M unguided rockets to shoot down two of the fighters, although only one is credited to him on this day. Hagenah then returned to base under the noses of another group of American fighters strafing the airfield.

According to US sources, there is little to no evidence that this event ever occurred. Similarly, Hagenah’s victories were not confirmed by JG 7 in the desperate last days of the war. As such, it is difficult to corroborate the event with such conflicting accounts. However, I have endeavoured to create this video as it is an interesting and rare aspect of the WWII air war.
